The construction of structural floors or the covering of floors is another
possible use for Viroc boards. It is widely used in the refurbishment of
old buildings to replace traditional wooden floors, which degrade in the
presence of water in the bathroom and kitchen areas and in the areas
where walls are connected to the facade. It can be used as a covering
and finishing of existing floors. The minimum thickness of boards used
on structural floors is 19 mm. When used as covering, without any
structural function and laid on an existing surface, the recommended
thickness is 12mm. When applied on floors, the loads, that the Viroc
board will have to bear, must be taken into account because its
resistance depends on board thickness the distance between support
beams. Paint or varnish coatings with good wear resistance should be
applied on Viroc boards used as flooring.
